I tell you, this Halloween will be a very special one! Just grab you Halloween costumes and prepare to lose your head in all the trick & treating fun! ~Mad King Freebies
Me
Its almost here-Halloween. The time of year where trick or treating, pumpkins, and dentists bills are in abundance. Over the last month, I have been blasted with training and planning this seasons trainign schedules (I am a triathlete), but now the season has ended-very well for me, with a silver medal in the race series and a bronze medal in the sprint championships-I am ready to deliver you a fine Halloween giveaway.
Halloween is a very special time for me. It was my first ever in game Guild wars event, was back in 2007, when it opened with the Costume Brawl. Since then it has been my favourite event-I actually screamed when I heard they were extending the event last year (I also screamed again because I found out I had missed 3 of the days due to a holiday). I was mesmerised by all the scenery, the activities, the witty remarks of the NPC's-I spent hours during 2007, and half filled my Gamer title track, due to my success in the Costume Brawl.
And this year, I wanted to spark some more enthusiasm into the community with an event. To be honest, last year I was a tearaway-I was reckless and cruel to virtually everyone. And yet I begged you all for donations with my overly ambitious events, which ended up failing, and ruining my reputation. This year, I had another ambitious idea in February-a massive Halloween event. I set myself a goal of 5 million. And i can tell you now that unfortunately I have fallen just short-but with only my hard work farming. Gruelling hours on monks, mesmers and elementalists, taming the lands of farmers. And I have raised 4.5 million gold's worth of items.
This year, I made the least ambitious goal I have ever made. Because of my perserverance I have almost made it-and with some time before the event, who knows-can I? I hope you thoroughly enjoy Halloween, and my efforts-heck, its the first time youve seen me work up a sweat getting things for my event!~James

*Charming..-a new activity! Pick any of the humans that has been changed into a ghoulish animal. I will randomly pick one. Then, I will challenge everyone at that animal to a game of rock paper scissors. Whoever wins, wins!
*Pumpkin bobbing �for me, a Halloween tradition. Get your Squash Serums and get to the coast. Prepare for your head to detach and float! All credit of the idea goes to Mad King Frost (Daniel Frozenwind)
*Quiz �Halloween themed quiz on the festival in game, Halloween music, film and previous Halloween competitions.
*Mad King says-a kinder version of the brutal game held by Mad King Thorn, because King Freebies respects his men. The game is simple-repeat my actions if preceeded by "Mad King says". The first person to do so in each round will win a glorious prize!
*Daily Death-the Halloween gazette! Read the daily issues as the decorations appear, and begin questing in the large activities!
The Fabulous 4...greater activities
The Great Ghost robbery
Halloween is a time of trick and treats, but now this fine event is threatened by a great threat! An NPC in the game has stolen and hidden a special Halloween item from Lions Arch! This item is used each Halloween by ghosts to widen the portal between the Underworld and the mortal world, but without it the ghosts cannot arrive!
Right now, the King is too busy with his event to deal with this horrifying matter, so he is leaving it to you find the NPC! Whilst beginning on the matter, the King has discovered some riddles left by the master thief, which will be provided on the forums each day, to help you solve the plot! The King has also uncovered sections of a map, as to where the item has been hidden. These will be released daily, and must be used to find the item during the event!
Keep up to date with the daily death issues, where the Lionguard will release their found clues, prizes, rules, and much more!
Hallowe'ed Hideout
It seems Halloween appears to be spiraling into turmoil this year. The new decorators hired for the event have been ambushed on their way to Lions Arch! The decorators claim to have found the spookiest place in Tyria, which has inspired their latest creations. But alas, a group of undead has ambushed their caravan, and they arrived in Lions Arch yesterday empty handed.
And so the task rests to you! You must travel the 3 continents of Tyria, and find the spookiest place in Tyria! Keep reading the Daily death issues, where information of the robbery will be published!
The Mad King/Queen Costume Contest
More turmoil has stuck the house of Lions Arch! I, Mad King Freebies, had hired the world's most acclaimed fashion designers. Their brief was to create the spookiest costumes in Tyria! But alas, the robber has stuck 3 times-now he has ambushed their caravan, stealing their costume ideas, materials and caravan itself!
So now, the task falls to you! It is up to you to save me from my wardrobe disaster, by presenting me with your costumes! You must create the finest costume combinations in Tyria, and present them to me! Keep your eyes on the Daily Death, where more information will be revealed!
Hallowe'en Aquathlon
As a lover of pain and sport, it brings a tear to my eye to see both combined in this fine sport. But how did this fine sport come about? When a Kournan Commander, John Collins, was planning another tough fitness regime for his soldiers, he planned a race. By combining the "Round Run of Kourna" with the "Barbarous Shore open water swim", he created Tyria's Toughest event. The event was successful, until records were destroyed with the invasion of Palawa Joko. After a successful uptake at Freebies July, why not spread some more cheer at Halloween?
The game is simple-a quick jaunt in the shallows of Lions Arch harbour as the swim, followed by a 2 lap circuit around Lions Arch. The Daily Death has a special issue with information about the event-check it out when it arrives very soon!

Final word
Its been a long year planning this event, listening to Thriller again and again, writing long lore stories and so on. Its been fun, without a doubt, and although its been very difficult, I hope it pays off on the day. Will you be the judge of that?
