[:1]In the lastest episode of TWIMMO ("This Week In MMOs" at Gamebreaker.tv) the good people are discussing PAX, and spend a sizeable portion admiring GW2
Featuring, among others, our very own Rubi.

Looks like she's changed her mind quite a bit.|||<3 Lensor.
Yeah, Hilary's a big-time RIFT fan -- she does Gamebreaker's RIFT show. She's got reservations about GW2, but she was at PAX last weekend and made a big effort to find out more.|||Quote:

Playing GW2 kind of does that to people.
Seriously though, if a long-time MMO fan like Pokket ends up being excited about GW2, that's a very good sign.|||Thanks for that video, I watched all of it, gw2 wasn't even the only thing I enjoyed learning more about (and no, it wasn't just the people talking).
Also, I believe Pokket (not Pocket you silly ;P) is having problems understanding how anet is getting rid of the holy trinity. It is a hard hurdle to get over I admit, seeing as how there are still hit points, healing/support, and armor/defense skills. It also sounds like she enjoys support roles so if/when she gets the game, she might be attempting to make builds that avoid dps (at least at first). Hope she isn't too disappointed when she realizes that isn't really possible/viable.|||How is it that hard to grasp after anet explains it? Everyone can heal, tank, support, dps etc. There's no one class for one thing, they all do it all, so not more trinity. On top of that no player targeted skills, and an emphasis on mobility and where you move. It took me a whole 2 minutes to grasp it, the length of time to read a few paragraphs and maybe a few more minute to look at videos.|||I think what is hard to grasp isn't how it's implemented, but rather how that will affect gameplay and specifically teamplay.
Many people think (erroneously) that you need the trinity to generate teamplay that is more than just ganking and outnumbering. But seems that with ground-targeted buffs, GW2 will offer a lot of ways for people to heal and buff each other.|||Quote:

I know, I know. She however seems to think that they've merely changed it "from a noun (tank, healer, dps) to a verb (tanking, healing, dpsing)." This was after it was explained multiple times how it was different. It's so hard for people to understand that having health with skills that make that health go down, other skills that make it go up, and some skills that make it go down slower does not make a holy trinity.
Even after playing it, she doesn't seem to understand, and indeed thinks that anet merely phrased what they are doing wrong. I wish that Rubi had tried to explain it to her better (or that she had listened). Idk, maybe she'll figure it out in the future.

QFT ;)|||It was frustrating listening to them talk about playing "healer". Somje people just don't get the whole self heal being the majority of heals and switching out roles (support/damage/control) on the fly to get the most out a characters skill bar...|||That blue hair girl bothers me somehow. Maybe because she reminds me of avatar or how she compares things. I don't know.
